In the last day I’ve seen more Sherlock Holmes than is normally right to.

Last night I had the treat of seeing Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.  Without too much detail, it was enjoyable but falls to the curse of the sequel, being that it does not measure up to the first in the series, in my opinion.

Something that I cannot say about the newest episode of Sherlock, Series 2.  For those that enjoyed Series 1, you’ll be happy to know that we pick up right where we left off at the end of last episode.  Boy, that Moriarty is a cheeky monkey!

Far cheekier than the version of the Professor in the movie.  I think compared side by side, I like the BBC Series much better.  I mean, I like a Guy Ritchie film as much as the next . . . guy, but I also like my Sherlock a bit brainier and repressed, and not so much punch-happy and Hollywood.

Moriarty was not the only thing these to shows had in common.  They also feature the character of Irene Adler, though there was more Ms. Adler in the first Ritchie film of the franchise.  Again, I have to vote the BBC Series version of “The Woman” up in my favor due to the sheer fun and sexiness of their interpretation.  Laura Pulver played an excellent foil to Benedict Cumberbatch’s consulting detective.

We get 2 more episodes in Series 2, making for 6 episodes in total.  If you can get at them, I highly recommend them!

What did you think of these shows?
